Food Security
Food Security is a pressing issue across Yukon and the North. The ability to access sufficient amounts of nutritious and safe foods affects many northerners in different ways.
Food Security "exists when all people, at all times, have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life"1. The Yukon First Nation Health and Social Commission has identified that Food Security is a priority for health and well-being, as does AICBR. For this reason, we continue to seek partnerships, projects and funders for research activities in this area. AICBR is a member of Food Secure Canada and the Northern Food Council steering committee.
We continue to take a community-based approach to researching and advocating for food security issues. If you have information about upcoming events, projects or potential partnerships please contact us.
